North Clayton saw five of their senior football leaders sign scholarships this morning. The Eagle faithful saw LB Clarence Jackson, 6-2, 218 destined for Rebel territory, signing with Ole Miss. while OL Torian Box, 6-3, 295 is headed for Wolf Pack county, signing with North Carolina State. Other signees today include DT Matthew Smith signing with Tennessee Tech with DB Winston Williams heading to Lehigh University and DT Devon Carter going to Grambling State.

Over at Riverdale, there were three signings: defensive back Lavelle Westbrooks (Georgia Southern), defensive end Edwin Walton (Valdosta State) and running back JuWhan Arnold (North Carolina Tech Prep).

Three other schools had one signing apiece. From Mount Zion, linebacker Karon Hodge is heading to Tuskegee; Lovejoy's Robert Smith (linebacker) officially committed to Clark Atlanta; and Forest Park's Jamarco Clark will sign with Iowa Wesleyan College on Tuesday.

Mundy's Mill linebacker Omari Jones, who signed with Georgia Southern, was kind enough to talk with the Neighbor after making things official. Jones on:

Finalizing Signing Day: Honestly, it’s a good start. I feel real confident about what I’m going to be able to do on the next level. It’s not like I made it yet, but my dream is to play in the NFL. This is just another stepping stone. I didn’t go to a D-I (school) but SOCON here I come.

What he brings to Georgia Southern: I bring hope. I feel like I bring another edge as far as defense.

His goals this fall: Honestly, I want to make All-Freshman SOCON and be considered one of the best defensive players in D-I AA football as a true freshman.
